March 2010 - McRoibin Doncaster
I am delighted with the success of my students who travelled up to Doncaster for the McRoibin feis with all dancers achieving high places.
Brooke Cairns won the u7 Premier, amonst other medals. Alexandra Wright progressed into Open for the last of her light dances in U10. Ella Tobin gained firsts to win through to intermediate and danced in her first ever open premier.
And of course, my nephew Benjamin Hughes-Strange, age 5, took to his second ever feis, achieving 3rd place in the Novice reel.
It is very important in Irish dancing that once you become an established competition dancer, that you not only practice hard but also attend every possible feis. And these dancer have shown it does pay off!
January 2010 - New Year, Great Start
Our dance school has started 2010 the way it finished 2009 with more success.
Our academy once again won many firsts as well as other high positions at the Feis for Flames and O'Mordha feis.
Pictured in the photo are from Left to right - Ella, Niamh, Kaylee, Lauren, Felice, Jordan (back), Ben, Verity, Ellen, Amy and Brooke.
I would like to give a special mention to Niamh and Felice who won there respective light trophies, as well as Kaylee who has finally got that sash!!!
July 2009 - First Open Champion Arrives
Congratulations to everybody from the academy who attended the last two feis. Once again, at the Scanlon Feis and the Celtic Cross Feis the standard of our dancers shone.
Jordan Casstles, Niamh Casstles, Lucy Houghton, Chelsea Boden, Kaylee Boden, Stephanie Wright, Alexandra Wright, Niamh Hilsdon, Caitlin Hilsdon, Eleanor Kenny, Brooke Cairns, Amy Latty and Ella Tobin all contributed to produce one of the biggest medal and trophy hauls we have had at the Alexander Strange Academy. The students, pictured, together achieved around 50 medals and 6 trophies. An incredible achievement for just 13 dancers.
Special mention has to go to Brooke Cairns who at the age of 5 achieved first place at the Scanlon Feis to become the academy's first Open Champion, only then to follow the success with another championship win at the Celtic Cross Feis. Congratulations!
Well done also to all other dancers including the feis newcomers Niamh C, Jordan, Niamh H and Eleanor.
With these results the academy is fast becoming known as the most promising new Irish Dance School in the region.!
Keep It Up!
April 2009 - Further Success for Irish Dance Academy
Following the Academy's first feis success, students have once again made the school proud at two further feis competitions.
Hannah Lloyd, Lucy Houghton, Brooke Cairns, Alexandra Wright, Steph Wright, Amy Latty, Nina Carr, Kaylee Boden, Ellie McQueen, Caitlin Hilsdon and Cait Lloyd all attended FEIS FOR FLAMES and the 'O' MORDHA FEIS achieving once again high awards and acclaim in the process.
The picture shown depicts only a few of the medals and trophies won at what was to become the academy's most successful competitions to date. The students achieved well over 20 first places at the FEIS FOR FLAMES competition alone, with matching numbers of second and third places also being won.
With so much success being achieved in these first competitions of the year, 2009 looks to be an extremely promising year for the Alexander Strange Academy of Irish Dance.
Well Done to All!
Oct 2008 - Trophies at the Academy's First Feis Competition
Students with their trophies
On Saturday the 11th of October the Alexander Strange Academy took part in it's first feis (competition) in Liverpool, with seven of it's students taking part.
The Alexander Strange Academy's students won 6 first places, 5 second places and 4 third places as well as lots of other medals. This includes 2 trophies. None of our students came away without a medal which is fantastic for their first feis.
I would like to say Congratulations to Brooke Cairns, Nina Carr, Alexandra Wright, Ellie McQueen, Caitlin Hillsdon, Ellen Nicholson and Stephanie Wright. These dancers have shown the school has a bright future at a high competitive level.
